The papers consist of correspondence, office files, printed material, photographs, electronic media, and memorabilia reflecting the political career of former Congressman Gillis W. Long. Office files Include personal files, staff files, legislative files, federal department and independent agency files, grant and project files, press files, committee files, and campaign files. Papers also contain material concerning members of his extended Long family as well as his immediate family. Long family papers consist primarily of printed material relating to Earl K. Long, Huey P. Long, and Russell B. Long. A finding aid is available in the repository and online.
Oral Histories: In the Gillis Long oral history series, 1986-1987, 53 sound cassettes and 32 transcripts.
