The James Wickersham Papers contain correspondence, letterpress books, diaries, subject files, business records, writings, research files, and scrapbooks, relating primarily to Wickersham’s work and life in Alaska (1900-1939), with lesser amount of material relating to his law practice and other activities in Washington (1884-1900). Includes court-related letters during his tenure as U.S. district judge at Eagle and Fairbanks, Alaska; subject files relating to his legislative work as delegate to Congress; mss. of his ethnological and other writings; and family papers, including records of Ruth Allman, his niece by marriage, and her husband, Jack Allman.
