The collection documents Allan Swifts operations in both Washington D.C. and in his district offices in Everett and Bellingham. The papers include correspondence, press files, committee files, photographs, speeches, awards, campaign files, and project files. The records document important issues of the late 1970s through the mid-1990s including environmental issues such as clean air, nuclear waste, the spotted owl, and hydroelectric power; telecommunication and broadcasting issues; as well as campaign finance reform and uniform poll closing. There are also some papers from Allan Swifts pre-congressional career, with Bellingham City. A finding aid is available in the repository and online.
