The scrapbooks of John William Flannagan, Jr. contain 13 volumes of news clippings documenting his political career, one volume of election returns, one volume on the Flannagan Tobacco Grading Bill, three volumes on the nomination of Judge Floyd Roberts as a Federal judge for the Western Virginia district, a letterbook, and three volumes of speeches chiefly from the Congressional Record. The letterbook contains routine correspondence and many responses to his speech on his dog and to the Bankhead-Flannagan bill to fund agricultural extension work. Other items include photographs, an 1826 letter from Professor Edward Grabhorn of Washington College regarding James Lyle, a eulogy for John William Flannagan, and drafts of some of his speeches.

Papers: In the Isabella Neff Burnet Collection of news clippings regarding the Presbyterian Church Virginia Synod and the Presbytery of West Hanover, 1919-1924, 15 items.
The collection includes a printed address from April 17, 1940 by John W. Flannagan on the fiftieth anniversary celebration of Wills Memorial Church (Trevilians, Va.).
