resident of Kathmandu, Nepal, 1962-1967; director, English Language Institute,
Kathmandu, 1965-1967; independent citizen lobbyist, consultant, and lecturer,
1971-1984; member, Democratic National Committee, 1980-1988; Washington State
representative, 1985-1988; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred First and
to the two succeeding Congresess (January 3, 1989-January 3, 1995);
unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fourth Congress.
