Bankhead II and served from June 15, 1946, to November 5, 1946, when a successor was elected; was not a candidate for election to the vacancy in 1946; member, State senate 1947-1951; president of Southern Pine Association 1954-1955; president, Swift-Hunter Lumber Co., of Atmore, Ala.; retired and resided in Atmore, Ala.; died in New Orleans, La., September 10, 1972; interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Atmore, Ala.
