STEVENS, Frederick Clement, a Representative from Minnesota;
born in Boston, Mass., January 1, 1861;
moved with his parents to Searsport, Maine;
attended the common schools of Rockland;
was graduated from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, in 1881 and from the law department of the University of Iowa at Iowa City in 1884;
was admitted to the bar in 1884 and commenced practice in St. Paul, Minn.;
member of the State house of representatives 1888-1891;
elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fifth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1897-March 3, 1915);
unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1914 to the Sixty-fourth Congress;
engaged in the practice of law until his death in St. Paul, Minn., July 1, 1923, interment in Oakland Cemetery.
