RIXEY, John Franklin, a Representative from Virginia; born in Culpeper County, Va., August
1, 1854; attended the common schools, Bethel Academy, and the University of
Virginia at Charlottesville; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1876 and
commenced practice in Culpeper, Va.; Commonwealth attorney for Culpeper County,
Va., 1879-1891; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-fifth and to the four
succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1897, until his death in
Washington, D.C., February 8, 1907, before the close of the Fifty-ninth
Congress; had been reelected to the Sixtieth Congress; interment in Fairview
Cemetery, Culpeper, Va.
