succeeding Congresses, changed party affiliation to Republican on November 10,
1995, elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fifth Congress (January 3,
1989-January 3, 1999); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred
Sixth Congress in 1998; unsuccessful candidate for governor of Mississippi in
2000; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, 2001-2002.
