LENT, Norman Frederick, a Representative from New York; born in Oceanside, Nassau County, N.Y., March 23, 1931; graduated from Malverne High School, Malverne, N.Y., 1948; B.A., Hofstra College, Hempstead, N.Y., 1952; LL.B., Cornell University Law School, Ithaca, N.Y., 1957; served in United States Naval Reserve, 1952-1954, during Korean Conflict, with rank of lieutenant; admitted to the New York bar in 1957 and commenced practice in Lynbrook; associate police justice, East Rockaway, N.Y., 1960-1962; confidential law secretary to New York Supreme Court Justice, 1960-1962; member of the New York state senate, 1962-1970; executive committeeman, East Rockaway, N.Y., 1962-1984; delegate, New York State Republican convention, 1968; delegate, Republican National Convention, 1972; elected as a Republican-Conservative to the Ninety-second and to the ten succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1971-January 3, 1993); was not a candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992; died on June 11, 2012, in Arlington, Va.
