Bush on March 7, 2001; unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Louisiana in 2003; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Ninth and to the succeeding Congress until his resignation on January 14, 2008 (January 3, 2005-January 14, 2008); Governor of Louisiana, 2008-2016.
