JOSEPH, Antonio, a Delegate from the Territory of New Mexico;
born in Taos, N.Mex., August 25, 1846;
attended Luxs Academy in Taos, Bishop Lammys School in Santa Fe, N.Mex., Webster College in St. Louis County, Mo., and Bryant and Strattons Commercial College, St. Louis, Mo.;
engaged in mercantile pursuits;
county judge of Taos County, N.Mex., 1878-1880;
moved to Ojo Caliente, N.Mex., in 1880;
member of the Territorial house of representatives in 1882;
elected as a Democrat to the Forty-ninth and to the four succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1885-March 3, 1895);
unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1894 to the Fifty-fourth Congress;
served in the Territorial senate 1896-1898, serving as president of that body in 1898;
again engaged in the mercantile business;
owner of hotels and extensive lands;
died in Ojo Caliente, N.Mex., April 19, 1910;
interment in Fairmount Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.Mex.
