JOHNSON, Calvin Dean, a Representative from Illinois; born in Fordsville, Ohio County,
Ky., November 22, 1898; moved with his parents to St. Clair County, Ill., in
1904, and attended public schools; engaged in the general contracting business
1922-1944; member, St. Clair County School Board, 1926-1928; member of the St.
Clair County, Ill., Board of Supervisors 1930-1934; served in the State house
of representatives 1935-1941; elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth
Congress (January 3, 1943-January 3, 1945); unsuccessful candidate for
reelection in 1944 to the Seventy-ninth Congress and for election in 1946 to
the Eightieth Congress; executive assistant to vice president of
Remington-Rand, Inc., in Washington, D.C., 1952-1968; engaged in public
relations; was a resident of Belleville, Ill., until his death there on October
13, 1985.
