HAVEN, Nathaniel Appleton, a Representative from New Hampshire; born in Portsmouth, N.H., July 19, 1762; pursued classical studies and was graduated in medicine from Harvard College in 1779; practiced his profession in Portsmouth, N.H., and also engaged in mercantile pursuits; served as a ships surgeon in the latter part of the Revolutionary War; elected as a Federalist to the Eleventh Congress (March 4, 1809-March 3, 1811); died in Portsmouth, N.H., March 13, 1831; interment in Proprietors Burying Ground. |
