2000; elected as an Independent to the One Hundred Seventh Congress and changed
party affiliation to Republican on August 1, 2002, elected as a Republican to
the One Hundred Eighth and to the two succeeding Congress (January 3,
1997-January 3, 2009); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred
Eleventh Congress in 2008.
