GOLLADAY, Jacob Shall, (brother of Edward Isaac Golladay),
a Representative from Kentucky; born in Lebanon, Wilson County,
Tenn., January 19, 1819; attended the public schools; moved to Nashville,
Tenn., in 1838 and thence to Kentucky in 1845; member of the State house of
representatives 1851-1853; member of the State senate 1853-1855; elected as a
Democrat to the Fortieth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of
Elijah Hise; reelected to the Forty-first Congress and served from December 5,
1867, until February 28, 1870, when he resigned; resumed the practice of his
profession at Allensville, Ky.; died near Russellville, Logan County, Ky., May
20, 1887; interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Russellville, Ky.
