DRESSER, Solomon Robert, a Representative from Pennsylvania;
born in Litchfield, Hillsdale County, Mich., February 1, 1842;
attended the common schools and Hillsdale College;
engaged in agricultural pursuits until 1865;
became an inventor of oil and gas well equipment;
moved to Pennsylvania in 1872 and engaged in the production of oil and gas;
founder and president of the S.R. Dresser Manufacturing Co.;
elected as a Republican to the Fifty-eighth and Fifty-ninth Congresses (March 4, 1903-March 3, 1907);
was not a candidate for renomination in 1906;
resumed former business pursuits;
died in Bradford, McKean County, Pa., January 21, 1911;
interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
