CORNELL, Robert John, a Representative from Wisconsin; born in Gladstone, Delta County, Mich., December 16, 1919; attended parochial schools in Green Bay, Wis.; B.A., St. Norbert College, DePere, Wis., 1941; M.A., Ph.D., Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., 1957; ordained a Roman Catholic priest, Norbertine Order, 1944; teacher of social sciences in parochial schools of Philadelphia, Pa., 1941-1947; professor, St. Norbert College, 1947-1974, and 1979-2009; chairman, Eighth Congressional District Democratic Party of Wisconsin, 1969-1974; member, State Administrative Committee of Democratic Party of Wisconsin, 1969-1974; unsuccessful candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 1970 and 1972; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and Ninety-fifth Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1979); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Ninety-sixth Congress in 1978; died on May 10, 2009, in DePere, Wisc.
