aldermen of St. Louis, Mo., 1941-1945; postmaster, city of St. Louis, 1958;
United States Navy, 1944-1946; elected as a Republican to the Eightieth
Congress (January 3, 1947-January 3, 1949); unsuccessful candidate for
reelection to the Eighty-first Congress in 1948; elected as a Republican to the
Eighty-second Congress in a special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the
death of United States Representative John B. Sullivan (March 9, 1951- January
3, 1953); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Eighty-third Congress in
1952; died, in University City, Mo., March 18, 1987; interment at Calvary
Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
